One of the most important Australian predecimal coins, we have the low-mintage 1934/35 Centenary Florin available in sparkling Extremely Fine condition!

Whilst struck to pay tribute to the centenaries of the founding of Melbourne and settling of Victoria, this unique sterling silver coin also played a role in the event. The Melbourne Mint struck 75,000 examples to be sold at a shilling above face value to defray the cost of the celebrations, but with money tight as Australia began to emerge from the Great Depression, a mere 54,000 coins were issued.

The only 'double-dated' Australian coin, the only predecimal coin with the legend in English rather than Latin and the only coin to carry Percy Metcalf's obverse portrait of George V, the tiny mintage has made the 1934-35 Centenary Florin one of the rarest coins of the predecimal series - and one of the most highly sought after.
